Astilbe are very popular, rugged, versatile shade lovers that thrive in moist conditions. They produce colorful elongated flower plumes above divided fern-like green foliage in the summer and add bursts of impressive color to the garden landscape. Best yet, they are low maintenance, attract butterflies but are deer and rabbit resistant. They are quite diverse with hundreds of varieties to choose from. Each overachieving in providing splendid flower shows. Use them in groups or en mass to create a ground cover. Great for cutting when they are half opened. The most striking characteristic of Astilbe Black Pearls is its stunning foliage. The leaves showcase a rich and velvety dark purple-black color, reminiscent of the precious gems it is named after. This deep and alluring foliage sets it apart from other astilbe varieties and adds a touch of mystery and sophistication to the overall appearance. Plant this perennial in a location with partial shade. Keywords: Van Zyverden, Astilbe Black Pearls, multi-color, perennial, fragrant, USDA Hardiness Zones 4-8, 1 lb
